The Neu
Teeth Grinding
Revolution
Your teeth grinding explained
byte explain has developed the Neu, a wireless muscle activity monitor, to monitor and help control teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism).
How The Neu Works
The Neu works by using a photoplethysmography (PPG) optical sensor:
IR Light: Reflected IR light tracks changes in blood volume in the muscle tissue. This maps to muscle activity and is equivalent to using EMG to measure muscle activity.
Muscle Activity: The type of muscle activity is identified by pattern recognition and data from other Neu sensors, a thermometer and an accelerometer.
Benefits
Now:
Evidence based compliance.
Keep your teeth with greater life expectances.
Control headaches and TMJ damage.
Planned:
Manage your stress.
Identify triggers with the help of your other health metrics like sleep and exercise.
Give confidence that any dental repair work will be preserved.
Bio-feedback using IR to relax muscle.
Part of bruxing community.
See were you stand relative to others.
Evaluate treatment options.
Neu PPG vs Muscle Sense EMG
These features differentiate the Neu:
Size: Smaller and easier to use than an EMG device.
Positioning: Accurate positioning of the sensor is not required.
Recharging: The Neu device is wirelessly recharged and does not require a cable.
Updating: Firmware can be updated OTA.
